New cria
The last of my females gave birth a few days ago and I thought people might be interested in photos.

I noticed Minnie obviously having contractions at about 8 am, alternately straining with her tail up, kushing and lying flat on the ground.

Being born
Giving birth, about 9:15am.

What *is* that?
What is going on back there?? She was turning around and around, trying to see.

Not up
Born but not up. 9:27am.

Still not up
Still not up. This went on and on and I was getting worried!

Getting there

The pictures make it look like there was a steady progression, but he spent a lot more time lying flat and weakly flailing on the ground after this shot before he was able to maintain an upright position.

I was just returning from the house with the glucose solution my book recommends if they haven't tried to stand within an hour, when he stood!

And he knew just what to do. Minnie (a first-time mother) didn't want him nosing around under there at first and kept moving away, but she suddenly changed her mind. Fortunately!

About six hours old

I wish it wasn't going to be an entire year before there'll be any more!

I love the 6th one down. The cria looks like he is smiling and proud of himself.
